TikTok Bans Overnight Live-Streaming for Nigerian Users Due to Safety Concerns

TikTok has implemented an overnight live-streaming ban on Nigerian users from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily. This move comes after reports of users hosting adult-themed sessions and receiving gifts during late-night live broadcasts, raising safety concerns.

The ban is part of TikTok's efforts to investigate and address the misuse of the live feature, with a focus on ensuring user safety and content moderation. In Q1 2025, TikTok removed 3.6 million videos in Nigeria for violating community rules, leading to the ban of 49,512 live sessions in the country.

The platform aims to curb inappropriate content and protect users during late-night hours.
