Nigeria Approves Purchase of Two Communication Satellites to Boost Digital Infrastructure

The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy in Nigeria, led by Minister Tijani, has disclosed the approval for the acquisition of two new communication satellites to bolster the nation's digital infrastructure. This move is part of efforts to support President Tinubu's goal of growing the economy to $1 trillion.

The Nigerian Data Protection Commission, under the leadership of Vincent Olatunji, has revealed substantial progress in the data protection sector, with the industry generating N16.2 billion and creating thousands of jobs. The commission has enforced the Nigeria Data Protection Act of 2023, resulting in compliance revenue of $5.2 billion and the creation of 23,000 jobs nationwide.

Additionally, the commission has embarked on training programs and initiatives to enhance data protection awareness and skills across the country.
