Tinubu Excludes Husband-Killer Maryam Sanda From Pardon List in Crackdown on Heinous Crimes

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu removed Maryam Sanda, convicted of killing her husband, from a pardon list to uphold justice and prevent perpetrators of heinous crimes from benefiting. The decision came after public criticism, leading to a reassessment of the list to exclude individuals convicted of serious offenses like murder, kidnapping, and terrorism.

The official gazette revealed that 27 individuals were granted clemency, including Yusuf Otondahi and Henri Iteg, whose sentences were commuted based on good conduct and rehabilitation efforts.
