Tinubu Honors Yusuf Ali on His 90th Birthday Celebration

President Bola Tinubu paid tribute to elder statesman Yusuf Ali on his 90th birthday, which he celebrated on June 2, 2026. Tinubu described Ali as a sincere friend and a committed democrat, whose wisdom has been indispensable to the Progressive Congress.

In his birthday message, Tinubu reflected on their long-standing friendship, highlighting Ali's honesty and patriotism throughout their journey together. Yusuf Ali, born to parents from Kano, has had a notable career in the petroleum industry and sports administration, having served as a manager at Total Oil during Nigeria's Second Republic.

He also contested for a seat in the Constituency Assembly and served as a councillor in Rano, Kano State. Ali was the managing director of Unipetrol for a decade and held the position of chairman of the defunct People's Party and the Action Congress of Nigeria.

Additionally, he served as chairman of the Nigeria Football Association. Tinubu expressed hope for Ali's continued good health and acknowledged his leadership and political experience as vital to the APC's formation.
