Tinubu Praises APC By-Election Victories in Four States

On September 20, 2026, President Bola Tinubu congratulated the winners of the legislative by-elections held on September 17 across five constituencies in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi, and Delta states. The All Progressives Congress (APC) won four of the five seats, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) secured one.

The successful APC candidates included Kallamu MaiJama’a for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Husseini Datti for Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State, Okolosi Ator for Udu State Constituency in Delta State, and Yakubu Ali for Disina State Constituency in Bauchi State. Adamu Yakubu of the APM won the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi State.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed that the victories reflected the confidence Nigerians have in the APC's governance. He urged the winners to represent their constituents effectively and encouraged other candidates to accept the results in good faith.

Tinubu also commended voters, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
