Bola Tinubu Forms Committee to Implement New Tax Laws in Nigeria by 2026

Bola Tinubu, the President, has approved the establishment of the National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC) to oversee the implementation of Nigeria's newly enacted tax laws, effective January 1, 2026. The committee, chaired by tax expert Joseph Tegbe, aims to strengthen public financial management, improve investor confidence, and foster inclusive growth through a comprehensive fiscal overhaul.

The NTPIC's mandate includes stakeholder consultations, inter-agency coordination, and ensuring a unified oversight framework for effective tax law implementation. Additionally, Dr.

John Nwabuez has been appointed as Nigeria's first tax ombudsman in line with the provisions of the Joint Revenue Board.
