Awuzie Defends Peter Obi Against Attacks from Tinubu's Allies

Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, the former National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, asserted that President Bola Tinubu and his supporters will fail in their attempts to undermine the integrity of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress. Awuzie made these comments during a press conference in Owerri, responding to recent criticisms directed at Obi from Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Minister of Works Engr. Dave Umahi.

He called on Igbo leaders and the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to publicly oppose the attacks on Obi and urged Soludo and Umahi to concentrate on their governance responsibilities instead. Awuzie praised Obi as a role model and expressed that many Nigerians, not just those from the South-East, admire him.

He emphasized that no matter the efforts of Tinubu and his supporters, they would not succeed in damaging Obi's reputation, highlighting the need for Igbo elders to show leadership and support for Obi.
