Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Democracy and Unity

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his dedication to democracy and the rule of law while addressing leaders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) at the State House in Abuja. In a video shared by his special assistant on social media, Dada Olusegun, Tinubu described himself as a "die-hard democrat" committed to the unity of Nigeria.

He stressed the importance of adhering to the principles of the Electoral Act, emphasizing that he would not compromise on the rule of law. Tinubu encouraged cooperation and unity within the APC, urging members to strengthen the party's platform.

His remarks followed a boycott threat by political parties regarding the 2027 elections due to controversial provisions in the Electoral Act. IPAC's national chairman, Yusuf Dantal, warned that certain aspects of the law could undermine party autonomy and lead to the rejection of election outcomes.

The recent reforms introduced in the Electoral Act aim to streamline Nigeria's electoral process.
