Tinubu Mourns Passing of Super Eagles Coach Onigbinde

President Bola Tinubu mourned the passing of Festus Adegboye Onigbinde, the former head coach of the Super Eagles, who died at the age of 88. In a statement issued on Tuesday by his special adviser on media and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed his condolences to Onigbinde's family and the entire Nigerian football community, acknowledging the profound loss.

Tinubu noted that Onigbinde was a trailblazer in Nigerian football, being the first indigenous coach of the Super Eagles in 1982. He emphasized Onigbinde's leadership role in guiding Nigeria to the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1984, marking a significant achievement in the nation's football history.

The president praised Onigbinde's dedication, discipline, and passion for the game, stating that his contributions to grassroots football and football administration in Nigeria would be remembered. Tinubu prayed for comfort for Onigbinde's family during this difficult time.
