Tinubu Names Opposition Politicians to 2027 Campaign Council

President Tinubu's re-election campaign will be coordinated by politicians from rival parties, including PDP minister Wike and governors Adeleke and Soludo.
President Bola Tinubu has drawn senior figures from opposition political parties into his 2027 re-election campaign, assigning them leadership roles across key states. An expanded campaign council unveiled by the All Progressives Congress includes Nyesom Wike (Federal Capital Territory Minister and member of the Peoples Democratic Party), Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke (Accord Party), and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo (All Progressives Grand Alliance).
At the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the president intends to formally inaugurate this expanded council. Rivers State and the FCT will see campaign coordination from Wike.
Soludo takes charge in Anambra while Adeleke oversees Osun. Such an arrangement reflects a deliberate approach to building coalitions that extend beyond the APC's traditional structures.
The campaign strategy harnesses the political sway of elected officials representing opposition parties, enabling penetration into regions that typically resist APC advances. During a Tuesday media briefing held in Abuja, Wike spoke to explain his participation within the APC framework despite his PDP affiliation.
He contended that his selection demonstrates Tinubu's acknowledgment of the value that non-APC politicians bring to achieving electoral success. According to Wike, this reflects cross-party teamwork, with the involvement of leaders from various political affiliations strengthening the campaign's competitive position.
Tinubu's choice to place opposition-aligned politicians in charge of state coordination demonstrates his goal of assembling a coalition spanning multiple parties behind his second-term bid. Rather than limiting management to APC loyalists, the approach capitalizes on governors and other senior officials wielding considerable power within their respective regions.
Soludo, Adeleke, and Wike each command robust political structures and grassroots connections throughout Anambra, Osun, and Rivers territories, resources that can substantially bolster campaign machinery.
