Tinubu Orders Six-month Ban on Raw Shea Nut Export

President Bola Tinubu has imposed a six-month ban on the export of raw shea nuts in Nigeria to enhance the country's shea value chain and increase export value. The ban aims to promote local processing and generate an estimated annual revenue of around 300 million.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, announced the ban at the State House in Abuja. The decision is part of efforts to stabilize the sector and reduce informal trade.

By boosting processor utilization, Nigeria hopes to capture a higher share of the global shea market. The ban is set to take immediate effect to ensure the success of this strategic move.
