Tinubu Urges Global Action on NCDs and Mental Health at UN Assembly

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasized the need for global action on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and mental health during the Fourth Meeting on Prevention and Control of NCDs at the United Nations General Assembly. Tinubu highlighted the rising burden of NCDs and mental health challenges in Nigeria, accounting for nearly 29% of deaths.

He stressed the urgency of international collaboration to address these issues, mentioning initiatives like the National NCD Policy and expanded health insurance coverage. The Minister of State for Health, Iziaq Adekunle Salako, echoed the call for investment partnerships to tackle these health challenges and prevent economic inequalities.

Tinubu warned of the negative impact on productivity and economic stability if global inaction persists.
