Bola Tinubu Seeks Senate Approval for N1.15 Trillion Loan to Finance Budget Deficit

Former Lagos State Governor and political leader, Bola Tinubu, has requested the Nigerian Senate's approval to borrow N1.15 trillion from the domestic debt market to finance the deficit in the 2025 national budget. The loan is intended to bridge the funding gap and ensure the smooth implementation of key government programs and projects.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, disclosed this during a plenary session. The proposal will be examined by the Senate committee on local and foreign debt for further legislative consideration.
