Tinubu's Past Support for Atiku Highlighted by APC Chair

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke on October 9 at the party's national secretariat, recalling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's support for Atiku Abubakar's presidential bid in 2007. Yilwatda stated that Tinubu believed in the necessity of power transitioning from the South to the North.

He noted that despite Tinubu's historical support for various leaders, including Nuhu Ribadu in 2011 and former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, many of those he supported withdrew their backing when he announced his presidential ambition in 2023. Yilwatda asserted that Tinubu has consistently worked for Nigeria's unity, highlighting his role in supporting Buhari in 2015 and leading a reconciliation committee in 2019 to unite Nigerians behind Buhari amidst political challenges.
