Tinubu to Address Nigerians for Independence Day on October 1

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to address Nigerians on October 1 as part of the 66th Independence anniversary celebrations. The Federal Government has opted for a low-key programme, as announced by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

The Inter-Ministerial Committee, chaired by Akume, was inaugurated to organize the events in Abuja. Akume emphasized that the occasion would allow Nigerians to reflect on the contributions of the nation's founding fathers and showcase the administration's achievements amidst socio-economic challenges.

The planned activities include a World Press Conference on September 24, a Juma’at Service on September 25, a Church Service on September 27, and an Independence Day Public Lecture on September 30, culminating in Tinubu's nationwide broadcast on October 1. The committee comprises various ministers and senior government officials tasked with executing the approved activities and documenting the proceedings.
