Tinubu to Host "MKO" Documentary Premiere on October 1

President Bola Tinubu will serve as the chief host for the national premiere of the documentary "MKO," which chronicles the June 12, 1993 presidential election, its annulment, and the subsequent political struggle. The premiere is scheduled for October 1 at the National Theatre in Lagos, coinciding with Nigeria's Independence Day, and will be followed by a nationwide cinema release on October 2.

Prior to the Nigerian premiere, "MKO" will be screened on September 23 at the American University in Washington, D.C., during a program titled “Democracy Denied: Nigeria’s Annulled 1993 Election and Its Lasting Legacies.” The documentary tells the story of Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and includes archival materials and firsthand accounts from significant figures such as former military President Ibrahim Babangida and former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Ose Oyamendan, the documentary's producer, expressed honor at Tinubu's involvement, highlighting the president's historical role in opposing military rule during the crisis following the annulment.
