Shettima Reveals Tinubu's $3.9bn Inheritance and Economic Focus

During a ceremony in Ilorin, Vice President Kashim Shettima revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration inherited $3.9 billion when it took office. Shettima highlighted Tinubu's determination to confront the country's economic difficulties rather than allowing them to hinder his plans.

He noted that despite facing significant opposition from northern governors during the 2023 presidential election, where only six out of 19 governors supported Tinubu, the president remained focused on his economic agenda. Shettima praised Tinubu for taking responsibility for the inherited economic challenges and for his administration's continued efforts to implement policies aimed at reversing the economic trend.

He also called for political restraint and reconciliation among politicians, citing Tinubu's conduct towards northern governors who did not support him in the election as an example of forgiveness and unity. The event included the turbaning of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate.
