Gombe State Ranks Tenth in Nigeria's Affordable Living

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria's inflation rate in January 2026 is 15.10%, a slight decrease from 15.15% in December 2025. This marks a significant reduction from January 2025's rate of 27.61%.

The report highlights the top ten most affordable states to live in Nigeria, with Gombe State ranking tenth despite experiencing a food inflation rate of 8.8%. Gombe's overall inflation rate stands at 13.74%, which is below the national average.

The state has seen a moderate price stabilization across non-food components such as housing and transport services. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya's administration is actively implementing measures to curb inflation and ease economic pressures on residents, focusing on fiscal prudence and agricultural support.

The 2026 budget includes provisions for social protection programs and a N12 billion allocation for regional security, aimed at addressing rising food costs and improving agricultural productivity.
