Tottenham Hotspur Eliminated from Carabao Cup by Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur was eliminated from the Carabao Cup third round following a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday. Liverpool took the lead with a goal from Alexis Mac Allister in the 21st minute, and Cody Gakpo extended their advantage nine minutes into the second half.

Tottenham managed to reduce the deficit with a goal from Conor Gallagher in the 69th minute, but Dominik Szoboszlai restored Liverpool's two-goal lead in the first minute of stoppage time. This result ended Tottenham's Carabao Cup campaign, while Liverpool advanced to the fourth round.

Tottenham had previously reached this stage after a 5-1 victory over Charlton Athletic. The defeat adds to Tottenham's woes, as they have struggled in the Premier League, failing to score in their first four matches of the season.

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who took charge in March, has faced scrutiny following a significant summer spending of around £320 million on new players. Tottenham's next match is against Aston Villa on Saturday.
