African Tourism Ministers Commit to Human Capital Growth

During the 69th meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF) held in Victoria Mahé, Seychelles, tourism ministers, senior officials, and industry stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen human capital to boost Africa's tourism growth. The meeting, hosted by the Seychelles government in collaboration with UN Tourism, focused on building skills and competitiveness within the tourism workforce across the continent.

This marked the first CAF meeting convened under the new UN Tourism Secretary-General, Shaikha Al Nuwai, who assumed office in January 2026. The meeting took place in the absence of Zambia, which chairs the commission, with Nigeria serving as the 1st vice chair.

The session aimed to advance the region's tourism agenda, discussing capacity building, visa connectivity, and digital infrastructure as key drivers of inclusive economic growth. The event coincided with the golden jubilee celebrations marking Seychelles' 50th anniversary of independence.
