Tragedy in Kwara: Farmer Shot by Terrorists Dies in Benin Hospital

Ibrahim Abubakar, a farmer from Chikanda community in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria, has tragically passed away in a hospital in Benin after being shot by terrorists in an attack on his farmland on August 4, 2025. His death has left the community in mourning, with his elder brother also being kidnapped and later released after a ransom was paid.

The incident has highlighted the rising insecurity in the border community, with residents living in constant fear of attacks. Community leaders are calling for urgent reinforcement of the local security architecture to prevent further tragedies.

Anu Ibiwoye, a community leader, has claimed that the majority of the terrorists in the area are foreigners. The incident comes amidst a wave of attacks in the northern part of the state, with residents fleeing their homes due to continued bandit attacks.
