Fernando Santos Praises Bernardo Silva's Real Madrid Move

Former Portugal head coach Fernando Santos commended Real Madrid for signing Bernardo Silva on a free transfer from Manchester City. Silva, now 31, joined the Spanish club last month after a successful nine-season stint at Manchester City, where he scored 76 goals in 460 appearances and won 19 trophies, including six Premier League titles.

He recently participated in the 2026 World Cup, where Portugal was eliminated in the Round of 16 by Spain. Santos, who managed the Portugal national team from 2014 to 2022, praised Silva's immense quality and character, stating he is among the finest footballers he has encountered.

He rejected claims that Silva has passed his prime, asserting that Silva remains at the pinnacle of his career and will make significant contributions to Real Madrid. Silva has signed a two-year contract with the club following a title-winning season at Manchester City.
