Troops Exhume Bandit Kingpin Kachalla Baccujo for Autopsy

On June 15, 2026, troops from the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army exhumed the body of notorious bandit kingpin Kachalla Baccujo for an autopsy. Baccujo, also known as Ibrahim Battijo, was killed on June 10, 2026, during an attack on students writing their WAEC examinations at a government secondary school in Iluk, Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, Kogi State.

The attack resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including the vice principal of the school, while several others sustained varying degrees of injury. The military task force discovered Baccujo's body in a forest following an exchange of gunfire with his gang members.

The operation was led by Brigadier General Karim Sidi and involved a 12-man team, with two helicopters dispatched for security cover during the exhumation process. A DNA test was planned to confirm the identity of the body.
