Trump Extends Iran Deadline Amid Ongoing Negotiations

On Thursday, Donald Trump announced an extension of the deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which had been set at 48 hours. This decision comes amid ongoing negotiations aimed at resolving the protracted conflict between Iran and Israel, which has now entered its second month.

Trump expressed optimism regarding the talks, stating that they are "going very well." U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged G7 members to support efforts to reopen this vital shipping route.

Trump revealed that Washington had transmitted a 15-point proposal to Tehran through Pakistani intermediaries. Iran has reportedly allowed 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait, indicating a willingness to negotiate, but has responded with firm conditions, including demands for war reparations and recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait.
