Trump Orders Nigerians to Return Home for Green Card Process

On Friday, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced a new immigration policy under President Donald Trump, requiring Nigerians and other foreign nationals seeking permanent residency in the U.S. to return to their home countries to complete their green card applications.

This directive is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to tighten immigration procedures. The policy affects individuals currently in the U.S. on temporary visas, including students, tourists, and foreign workers, who will no longer be allowed to remain in the country while processing their green card applications unless under extraordinary circumstances.

USCIS spokesman Zach Kahler stated that this measure is designed to close loopholes that allowed migrants to remain in the U.S. illegally after unsuccessful applications. The policy is expected to impact thousands of immigrants, including Nigerian nationals, who are already residing legally in the U.S. and seeking to adjust their immigration status.
