Donald Trump was welcomed in Beijing with a ceremonial greeting ahead of crucial talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People, where the two leaders exchanged a lengthy handshake and brief remarks.

Among the attendees were prominent business leaders such as Tim Cook, Chief Executive of Apple, and Elon Musk, founder of Tesla, alongside senior U.S. officials including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This meeting follows their last encounter at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea in late October.

The discussions are expected to focus on easing tensions surrounding ongoing tariff disputes and trade issues. Additionally, concerns regarding U.S. support for Taiwan and China's relationship with Iran are anticipated topics.

China's state news agency, Xinhua, emphasized the importance of stable relations between the two nations, highlighting cooperation on major global issues such as trade, financial markets, climate change, and artificial intelligence.
