Trump Sues IRS for $10 Billion Over Leaked Tax Records

Former President Donald Trump has filed a $10 billion lawsuit against the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for leaking his tax records. The lawsuit, filed in Miami federal court, alleges that the leak of his tax returns caused harm to his business and reputation.

Trump, along with his two eldest sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., and the Trump Organization, are seeking damages for the leak that occurred between May 2019 and September 2020 by a former IRS employee named Charl "Chaz" Littlejohn. Littlejohn pleaded guilty to releasing Trump's tax returns and is currently serving a five-year sentence.

Trump's tax returns had been a subject of speculation during his presidency, with him refusing to release them publicly. The leak led to financial harm, public embarrassment, and unfair tarnishing of Trump's business reputation.

This lawsuit is not the first legal action Trump has taken against the government, as he previously sought $230 million from the US Department of Justice over mishandling classified documents and challenging the 2020 election results.
