Nigerian Civil Society Urges President Tinubu to Act Diplomatically Amid Tensions Triggered by Trump Threats

Nigerian civil society organizations are advising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act swiftly and diplomatically in response to rising tensions triggered by reported threats of military action by former US President Donald Trump. The Nigerian Civil Society Council issued a communiqué after a high-level meeting in Abuja, urging diplomatic measures to handle the situation with utmost urgency.

They recommend appointing ambassadors and international lobbyists to protect Nigeria's global image. The absence of an ambassador was highlighted as a major setback, worsening diplomatic relations and hindering communication with Washington.

The council stresses the importance of evidence-based responses to international accusations and calls for inter-religious dialogue to calm tensions.
