Trump Awards Elon Musk National Medal of Science at Summit
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump will honor billionaire Elon Musk with the National Medal of Science, the highest accolade awarded to scientists and engineers in the United States. This presentation will occur during the White House's “Science: A New Golden Age” summit.
Alongside Musk, other recipients include Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and Advanced Micro Devices CEO Lisa Su, all of whom will also receive the National Medal of Science. Additionally, Dell Technologies chief Michael Dell and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will be awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
This event marks the first time Trump has presented either medal during his terms. The recognition follows Musk's significant financial support of over $290 million to Trump's 2024 campaign and reflects the honorees' backing of Trump or Republican causes.
White House spokeswoman Liz Huston stated that these recipients are pivotal in maintaining America's leadership in innovation.
