Analyst Warns Trump's Threats Expose Nigeria's Vulnerability to Foreign Interference

Dengiyefa Angalapu, a research analyst at the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), expressed concerns over President Trump's recent military action threats towards Nigeria, citing the country's vulnerability to foreign interference due to its complex conflict landscape. He highlighted the multi-ethnic and multi-religious nature of Nigeria, explaining how different groups interpret insecurity through religious and ethnic lenses.

Angalapu emphasized that the North East is driven by jihadist ideologies, while the North Central and North West face challenges from groups seeking to establish Islamic states for economic reasons. The analyst also discussed the religious dynamics in conflicts, particularly how attacks on churches deepen mistrust between Muslim and Christian communities.
