Tunji-Ojo Encourages ExxonMobil to Boost Oil Investments

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, engaged with Mr.

Jagir Baxi, the newly appointed Chairman and Managing Director of ExxonMobil Nigeria, to encourage increased investment in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. During a meeting in Abuja, Tunji-Ojo referenced the rising foreign direct investment, particularly in offshore oil and gas exploration, as a positive indicator for potential investors.

He assured the ExxonMobil team of the federal government's support and emphasized the need for the right policy strategies and partnerships to facilitate further investment. Tunji-Ojo commended ExxonMobil for its commitment to developing Nigeria's oil and gas sector, particularly in offshore exploration.

He noted that ExxonMobil and its affiliates have invested $3.5 billion in Nigeria's oil and gas industry. Mr.

Baxi acknowledged the Minister's reform-driven leadership and reaffirmed ExxonMobil's commitment to continue investing in Nigeria, particularly focusing on deep-water resources, citing the company's 70-year presence in the country.
