UCH Ibadan Health Workers Strike for Dr. Ishola's Reinstatement

Health workers at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, represented by the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP), commenced an indefinite strike on Wednesday. The strike is in response to the failure to reinstate Dr. Adeyinka Ishola, the hospital’s director of Pharmaceutical Services.

NUAHP Chairman Comrade Oladayo Olabampe stated that previous efforts to secure Ishola’s reinstatement were unsuccessful. The union demands the implementation of a recommendation from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, which found Ishola not guilty of any fraudulent activities related to the sale of a tricycle donated to the Pharmacy Department.

The investigative panel initially recommended Ishola's suspension, but after an independent investigation by the ministry, it was concluded that he should be reprimanded and reinstated. NUAHP expressed surprise at UCH management's refusal to implement this decision, which has persisted for months.
