Lookman Makes History in Atletico's UCL Victory Over Barca

On Tuesday night, Ademola Lookman achieved a significant milestone by scoring in Atletico Madrid's 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Metropolitano Stadium. This accomplishment makes him the fourth Nigerian player to score in a UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

The first Nigerian to achieve this feat was Obafemi Martins, who scored for Inter Milan against Villarreal in 2006. Samuel Chukwueze followed suit, scoring for Villarreal against Bayern Munich in 2022, and Victor Osimhen joined the exclusive list by scoring for Napoli in a clash against AC Milan the following year.

Lookman now aims to join Finidi George and Martins among the Nigerian players who have scored in a semi-final of the tournament.
