Mbappe Scores as Zidane Debuts with France's 1-0 Win

In Zinedine Zidane's first match as coach of the France National Football Team, Kylian Mbappe scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Turkey in the UEFA Nations League. The match took place at Kocaeli Stadium in Izmit, Turkey.

Mbappe, who was positioned on the left wing, scored his 67th international goal after receiving a pass from Michael Olise. Shortly after scoring, he sustained a knee injury, prompting his substitution for Desire Doue.

Zidane, appointed in late July on a contract until 2030, is returning to elite coaching after his tenure at Real Madrid ended in 2021. France, who were semi-finalists at the recent World Cup, will face Belgium next in Brussels.

The match also saw Turkey reduced to ten men after goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir received a red card for handling the ball outside his area. France's next match is against Italy at Stade de France.
