UI VC Advocates for Better Trade Union Collaboration

On a recent date, Professor Kayode Adebowale, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, emphasized the need for stronger collaboration and effective conflict management among trade unions during a workshop titled "Strengthening Conflict Management and Collaborative Governance among Trade Unions." The workshop, attended by key university stakeholders including Professor Peter Olapegba, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, focused on the importance of constructive labor relations to ensure institutional stability and academic excellence. Adebowale noted that while conflict is a natural part of human interaction, managing disagreements respectfully is crucial for institutional progress.

He highlighted the significant roles of trade unions such as NASU, SANU, NAAT, and ASUU in advocating for staff welfare and promoting dialogue. The workshop aimed to equip union leaders with practical skills in negotiation and emotional intelligence to foster harmony within the university system.

Professor David Oluwol also urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to enhance daily interactions and promote a culture of peace and collaboration.
