UK Government Launches Fund to Boost Nigeria's Creative Industry

The UK government has initiated a fund aimed at boosting Nigeria's creative industry, particularly in the sectors of film, fashion, and music. This fund, part of the UK Nigeria Tech Hub's digital access program, is designed to address critical technical capacity gaps and support the development of local digital products.

The first phase of the grant initiative will focus on projects that demonstrate strong potential for scalable job creation and will subsidize projects that require technical expertise, including specialists like VFX artists and sound engineers. Oyinkansola Bello, director of the UK Nigeria Tech Hub, emphasized the importance of this fund in ensuring Nigeria's creative success and expanding access to tools and skills, particularly for women-led enterprises and youth-led ventures.

The initiative aims to strengthen Nigeria's creative value chain and promote the use of artificial intelligence in creative processes, ultimately enhancing the quality of local creative outputs.
