King Charles Hosts State Banquet Celebrating UK-Nigeria Ties

On Wednesday, King Charles hosted a state banquet at Windsor Castle, celebrating the partnership between the United Kingdom and Nigeria. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu were among the 160 guests.

In his speech, King Charles referred to the UK-Nigeria relationship as a "living bridge" and emphasized the importance of religious tolerance among diverse faiths. The banquet took place during Ramadan, with special accommodations for Muslim guests, including a prayer room.

The event featured a unique cocktail named "Crimson Bloom," combining Nigerian zobo and English rose soda. The ceremonial welcome included traditional robes for the Nigerian leaders and a military band performance.

Gifts exchanged included handcrafted pottery and a silver photo frame from President Tinubu, while King Charles and Queen Camilla presented a traditional Yoruba statuette. The event highlighted the historical ties and future aspirations of both nations amidst challenging times.
