Nigerian Court to Decide on Virtual Testimony in UK Visa Fraud Case

The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Nigeria has scheduled a hearing for February 18, 2026, to determine the admissibility of virtual testimony in a UK visa fraud case. The case involves Inspector General of Police's motion to allow Mr.

Emmanuel Opeyemi to testify virtually from the United Kingdom. Shitta Aderibigbe, representing Fanzin Education Consult, faces charges of providing false information to the British government.

Aderibigbe pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of 1 million naira. The prosecution alleges that Aderibigbe and Opeyemi conspired to commit visa fraud.

The court is considering a motion to allow the complainant, Mr. Makind, to testify virtually.

The defense is yet to respond to this motion. The next hearing will focus on arguments regarding the virtual testimony request.
