Ukrainian Drone Strike Kills Worker at Nuclear Plant

A Ukrainian drone strike on Monday targeted the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, resulting in the death of a transport worker. This incident occurred at Europe's largest nuclear power facility, which has been under Russian occupation since 2022.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted the strike, which led to the plant's power transmission line being disconnected and caused a blackout lasting one and a half hours. This marked the 15th blackout at the facility, significantly increasing nuclear safety risks.

President Volodymyr Zelenski accused Russia of perpetrating nuclear terror by sending drones to the site. The plant is currently in cold shutdown mode and remains a critical point of contention in negotiations to end the war.

The incident coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, heightening concerns over nuclear safety in the region.
