UNICEF and FG Launch Roadmap for Nigerian Children's Future

UNICEF and the Federal Government of Nigeria have commenced the development of a long-term roadmap to enhance the future of Nigerian children by 2050. This initiative, led by Wayne Amago Bacal, focuses on ensuring that children play a central role in shaping the country's future.

The roadmap was introduced during an open ceremony at Zuma Resort, with Bacal explaining that the initiative aims to translate theoretical discussions into actionable government policies. The process involves consultations with government institutions, civil society organizations, and children themselves to identify possible scenarios for Nigerian youth by 2050.

Chris Ngwodo, the Director General of the Office of Strategic Preparedness and Resilience, emphasized that the roadmap is a unique policy process that integrates children's voices and perspectives. Moham Ahm noted the importance of engaging children in decision-making processes that affect their lives.

The initiative is supported by the Office of the Vice President and aims to reflect changing global realities in policy formulation.
