UNICEF Urges South-west Nigeria to End Open Defecation by 2030

UNICEF, through its Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) specialist, emphasized the need for South-west states in Nigeria to work towards ending open defecation and meeting sanitation targets by 2030. The call was made during a media dialogue involving six states in the region, including Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Lagos, and Edo.

The focus is on achieving citywide inclusive sanitation to ensure equitable access to safe sanitation services for urban residents, regardless of social class. Stakeholder collaboration and clear responsibilities are highlighted to strengthen the sanitation sector.
