US Imposes Visa Ban Over Religious Violence in Nigeria

The United States has announced a new visa ban aimed at individuals involved in violations of religious freedom in Nigeria, particularly in response to the mass killings of Christians by radical Islamic terrorists and Fulani ethnic militias. Mark Walker, the U.S. principal advisor on global religious freedom, made this announcement via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

The new policy is based on Section 212 (3)(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which allows the State Department to restrict visa issuance to individuals who significantly support or participate in actions that violate religious freedom. This action reflects the U.S. government's stance that it cannot stand by while atrocities occur in Nigeria.

The policy will also apply to family members of those engaged in such violations. President Donald Trump has previously emphasized the U.S. commitment to addressing these issues in Nigeria and other countries.
