UNODC Urges Stricter Penalties for Cyber Violence Crimes in Nigeria Workshop

The UNODC, represented by Cheikh Tour, urged Nigeria to impose stricter penalties on cyber violence crimes, focusing on revenge porn during a three-day workshop in Abuja. The workshop highlighted the urgent need to combat online harm, especially against women, emphasizing the profound impact on victims' dignity and autonomy.

The UNODC stressed the importance of international cooperation under the UN Convention against Cybercrime (UNCAC) to address jurisdictional gaps and ensure justice for survivors. Kristin W Ringsaasen from the Royal Norwegian Embassy expressed strong support for UNODC's efforts.
