PSG Triumphs Over Barcelona 4-2 in UCL Showdown
On October 20, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured a 4-2 victory over Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League matchday three fixture. Desire Doue opened the scoring for PSG, who maintained their lead into halftime.
The second half saw a flurry of goals, with Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal scoring for Barcelona, while Lucas Hernandez, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz added to PSG's tally. Yamal's goal, although a consolation, was noted for its brilliance, despite his overall performance being below expectations.
Voting for the 2026 Ballon d'Or had already closed, meaning Yamal's goal would not impact the award outcome. However, Yamal is anticipated to finish on the podium for the second consecutive year, having been the runner-up in 2025 behind PSG's Ousmane Dembele.
Harry Kane is currently the frontrunner for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, with Rodri and Lionel Messi expected to be among the top five.
