U.S. Envoys to Pakistan for Iran Conflict Peace Talks

U.S. envoys, including Karolin Leavitt, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, are traveling to Pakistan to initiate a new round of peace negotiations concerning the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The talks are expected to commence on Saturday, with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi having already met with Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Araghchi expressed gratitude towards Pakistan for its efforts to establish a ceasefire and outlined Iran's principled position regarding the conflict. Despite these diplomatic efforts, Iranian state media reported that there are no immediate plans for direct talks between Iran and the U.S.

The situation remains tense, with Iran's military maintaining a defiant stance against U.S. naval blockades and military actions. The last round of negotiations faced an impasse, primarily due to Iran's refusal to engage while U.S. blockades remain in place.

The discussions also aim to address the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for global oil trade.
