US Lobbying Firm Calls Tinubu a Threat to Nigeria Stability

Von Batten-Montague-York, a US lobbying firm hired by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar under a 12-month contract worth $1.2 million, has described President Bola Tinubu as a threat to Nigeria's stability and US interests. This statement follows remarks by US Congressman John James, who highlighted the government's failure to address terrorism, claiming "tens of thousands of Nigerians have been slaughtered by terrorists ignored or enabled by the Nigerian government." The firm commended Congressman James for his comments in Congress and noted that more US Congress members are voicing concerns regarding the Tinubu administration.

Allegations against the Nigerian government include corruption, drug trafficking, and interference with the judiciary to weaken political opposition ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The firm asserted that Tinubu's claims of friendship with former President Donald Trump will not mitigate the perceived threats he poses to Nigeria and US interests.
