Trump: U.S. Will Not Rush Iran Nuclear Deal Negotiations

On Sunday, Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, announced that the U.S. will not rush into a deal with Iran amid rising criticism of negotiations aimed at ending conflicts in the Middle East. Trump stated on his Truth Social account that the blockade on Iran will remain fully in effect until a certified agreement is reached.

He criticized the 2015 nuclear deal negotiated by former President Barack Obama, asserting that Iran cannot develop or procure nuclear weapons. The U.S. and Iran are reportedly close to a memorandum of understanding that could extend a current ceasefire by 60 days and allow Iran to sell oil freely, contingent on negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program.

However, concerns were raised by Republican lawmakers, including Roger Wicker, Ted Cruz, and Thom Tillis, about the implications of a potential agreement favoring Iran. The status of the negotiations remains opaque, with the Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's endorsement of a broad template for the deal still uncertain.
