Nigeria's VAT Disbursement Reaches N551.77bn in February 2026

In February 2026, Nigeria's VAT disbursement hit N551.77 billion, representing a 30% increase compared to January 2026, which recorded N423.25 billion. This data, compiled by the Nairametrics Research Team, indicates a net VAT disbursement increase of 31.41% from N541.89 billion during the same period.

The rise is attributed to sustained tax collection momentum and steady economic activity. States such as Katsina, Jigawa, Delta, and Kaduna reported significant gains, with disbursements ranging from N12.73 billion to N13.82 billion, reflecting growth rates between 6.14% and 16.08%.

Conversely, states like Cross River, Abia, Gombe, Kogi, and Plateau recorded allocations between N9.97 billion and N10.47 billion, with growth rates of 8.54% to 23.01%. The overall VAT allocation for Nigerian states surged by 74% month-on-month from N423.25 billion in January 2026, rebounding sharply from N242.92 billion in December 2025.
