Verve Partners with Wema Bank for Mobile Payment Innovation

Verve, Africa’s leading domestic payment cards and tokens brand, has launched its tokenization solution in partnership with Wema Bank. This pilot deployment enables eligible Wema Bank customers with Verve cards to make contactless payments using their mobile devices.
Customers can tokenize their cards within the Wema Bank mobile banking application, activating them for Mobile Tap-to-Pay at supported contactless terminals. Tokenization replaces sensitive card details with a secure digital token, enhancing payment security while providing convenience.
Vincent Ogbunude, Managing Director of Verve International, commented on the straightforward experience designed for Wema Bank customers. The solution is intended to extend beyond the pilot phase, allowing other financial institutions in Nigeria to leverage Verve’s tokenization capabilities.
This initiative reflects Verve's ongoing investment in payment innovation, aiming to meet the evolving needs of consumers and the payments ecosystem by combining security, convenience, and flexibility in digital payments.
