On Wednesday, during an event at the University of Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State responded to criticisms concerning his administration's collaboration with individuals associated with the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized that his governance is driven by competence rather than political loyalty, insisting that the ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of Oyo State should not be limited by political background.

Makinde specifically addressed concerns regarding Bimbo Adekanmbi and Dr. Morohunkola Thomas, who have ties to the APC.

He argued that the effectiveness of his administration should be measured by its performance and the capacity of individuals to support the state's progress, regardless of their political affiliations. Makinde's remarks come amid increasing political discussions in Oyo State as the 2027 governorship election approaches, with various names already speculated as potential successors.
